About the Summer Student Research Program:
"I have always enjoyed being with and working with youth. They have so much energy that I find that it excites me. Their energy is what will bring about the cure for cancer; because the answer for the cure will come from laboratory research. I value the Summer Student Research Program because the young people in this program 'get turned on' to research and will find their place in the future of cancer research. They are our future!"

About Her Work:
"A simple mother / daughter watercolor class triggered my interest and was causative in my profession in prints.

"My work protests the dimension of flat canvas. Building upon added fabric and paper to the canvas, I successfully broke out of the two dimensional confines.

"Forty years of learning experience, influenced early on by Richard Diebenkorn, evolved my works into soft lyrical color compositions. Later, the influences of Robert Rauschenberg led to my experimenting with mixed media / photo collage and more aggressive paint application. Today I have arrived at my own style, pressing the limits of the flat canvas.

"At first glance my compositions appear to be abstract; however, upon closer scrutiny one sees images of distant landscapes and layered levels of mysterious organic formations. My experience and experimental works giving a balance of tonal qualities reinforced my enthusiasm to explore, thus, leading to my open ended desire to continue onward and outward in this enchanting and ever consuming experience of life.
