Announce the 2007Nathan Schnaper
Summer Student Research Internship Program
Program Description:Undergraduate students in arts and sciences are eligible to apply for an 8-week mentorship in Cancer Research at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center during their summer holidays. Students will be matched to Cancer Center Faculty who will serve as mentors. Research activities of Cancer Center investigators encompass many areas that are on the forefront of interest, including cancer drug resistance, signal transduction, programmed cell death, molecular pharmacology, angiogenesis, and carcinogenesis. |
Goal:To provide the student with the opportunity to become acquainted with certain cutting-edge areas of research in the current fight against cancer by means of experiential training in the laboratory of a Cancer Center Faculty-mentor. Students will be expected to write and present a synopsis of their work at the end of the program.Eligibility: Undergraduate College / University students in Arts and Sciences and Medical Students with good academic standing. Applications are considered on a competitive basis. |
For a minimum of 8 weeks of participation in the program, students will receive a total of $1,500 for the summer. Students who return to the program for a second summer receive $2,000; Students who return for the third or more summers receive $2,500. Parking fees may be compensated depending on the availability of funding, which may vary from year to year. We regret that at present, we are unable to provide compensation for housing in the Baltimore area.
